Introduction

The time between Christmas and Easter is kind of just “blah” in our house. We don’t go all out with decorations for Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day. Then I got to thinking… Out of all of the wreaths I have constructed, I’ve never made a Valentine’s Day wreath. So, why not!

So, Hobby Lobby here I come!

Materials & Price Breakdown for Valentine’s Day Wreath

I did a little research before I went on how I wanted it to look, but I didn’t have anything specific in mind. Here is what I came home with:

  • 1 – Heart Frame – $3.49
  • 2 – Red Heart Floral Stems – $4.79
  • 2 – Pink Heart Floral Stems  – $4.79
  • 1 – Pack of 30 Pipe Cleaners – $2.29 for the pack but only used 14 → $1.07
  • 1 – Medium Sized Pack of Deco Mesh – $10.99
  • 3 – Different Types of Ribbon with wire trim – $8.98
  • 1 – Small Truck ornament – $1.79

Total: $36.05 plus tax

**You will also need some floral cutters to cut the pipe cleaners and floral stems, and scissors to cut the ribbon.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Lay out all of your materials.
  2. Cut about 15 of the pipe cleaners in half with your floral cutters.
  3. Cut the different types of ribbon into 12-inch pieces. You can cut as many as you would like.
  4. Start with your frame, deco mesh, and pipe cleaners.
  5. Take the end of the deco mesh and bunch it together, making sure that the edges are not below the pipe cleaner. You don’t want the end of the mesh coming loose once it’s on the frame.
  6. Using the pipe cleaner, go from the underside of the frame to the front, around the frame with the bunch of deco mesh. Twist the pipe cleaner around both. (I started on the inside of the heart and worked my way around then jumped to the outside.)
  7. Go down the deco mesh about 8-inches and bunch it up again. Using another pipe cleaner attach the bunch to the frame.
  8. Go around the inside and then jump to the outside.
  9. If you start running out of deco mesh and haven’t made it around, adjust your pipe cleaners so that it fits the best it can.
  10. Once you reach the end, just replicate what you did for the beginning – Make sure the edge is outside the last pipe cleaner.
  11. Using the pipe cleaners that are in the frame already, place your ribbon, ornaments, and floral stems wherever you would like.
  12. Ta-Da! You’re finished!
