There is no earthly relationship can give the type of peace and hope I’m referring to. Only a relationship with GOD can do this!
How do you cultivate any relationship?
Let me challenge you for a minute.
- How do you get to know someone?
- If you have a best friend, why are they your best friend?
If I were to answer, I would say that spending time and having deep conversations enhance any relationship. I would say that my husband is my best friend. We do almost everything together, not only because it is our love language, but also because we know it strengthens our relationship with one another.
For question #2, I would say that I know my husband is my best friend because he knows everything about me. He knows what I like to eat and what I don’t, he knows my pet-peeves, he knows what my values are and what I believe, and the list goes on.
What did those questions have to do with God, peace, and hope?
Okay, so? How can we receive His peace and hope unless we have a relationship with Him?
This is where the Bible comes into play. So, why do I read the Bible? I believe that the Bible is God’s holy and infallible word given to man to record. So that we can apply it to our lives today and to cultivate that personal relationship He wants to have with us. It allows us to get to know the heart of God and the plan He has for our lives. I don’t know about you… but for me, having a personal relationship with the Creator gives me hope and peace for the future and strength for the now.
